About the FGZ
FrauenGesundheitsZentrum – Women’s Health Centre
The FrauenGesundheitsZentrum (Women’s Health Centre) is an institution addressing the health issues of women and girls. Based on feminist ethics, we have been working with women and girls since 1986 by promoting female health and answering female-specific health questions. We stand for a society without stereotypes and judgemental behaviors.
The FrauenGesundheitsZentrum München e.V. is a non-profit organisation, funded by the city of Munich, the government of Upper Bavaria, our own funds, and private donations. We are a member of the ParitätischeWohlfahrtsverbande.V. and the Bundesverband der Frauengesundheitszentrene.V.
Our work is based on a holistic understanding of the individual and her culture, within the context of today’s society. We view every woman, and her current issues, in relation to her personal circumstances.
We combine conventional medical knowledge and complementary medical approaches, and we support every female in finding the path that is best for her at that precise moment. We invite all women into the FGZ, no matter their age, sexual identity, financial situation, origin, or native tongue. If necessary, we work with interpreters.
Our fields of expertise are healthcare and health promotion, preventative measures, health and sex education, and self-help. We carefully watch the existing health care system, and we participate in public and political discussions concerning health topics. To ensure the professional quality of our work, we constantly cross-train our staff and volunteers, cooperate with other centres and organizations, and regularly attend training courses.
